Core concepts
The terms you'll want to know when using Squadbase — organizations, spaces, projects, data sources, signals, and more — and how they relate to each other
In Squadbase, you connect data sources, analyze them with AI in projects, and the findings AI discovers arrive as signals. This page explains the main terms you'll see in the app.
How it all fits together
- An organization contains spaces.
- A space contains projects.
- Data sources are managed by the organization and can be reused from any project.
- When you chat with AI in a project, signals are created and delivered to Home.
Terms
Organization
The unit for a team using Squadbase. Members, plans, billing, and AI credits are managed per organization. Click the organization name at the top left of the sidebar to open a menu, where you can open Switch organization and Settings. You can belong to more than one organization.
Space
A place that groups projects. Projects are listed by space in the sidebar. All members of the organization automatically join the General space. You can also create spaces for departments or topics. → Spaces
Project
Your workspace for analysis. A project brings together data sources, files, outputs such as dashboards, and your chats with AI. → Projects and chat
Data source
Where the data you analyze comes from. Data sources include databases, business SaaS tools, Excel / CSV files, Squadbase DB, public data, and more. Once connected, a data source can be reused from any project in your organization. → Data sources
Signal
A change or finding in your data that your team isn't aware of yet. AI finds it and delivers it with a headline, a body, and suggested replies. → Signals
Home
The place where signals delivered to your organization are listed, newest first. Signals from all projects, and your team's decisions on them (who replied and how), are gathered in one place. The number of signals waiting for a reply is shown on Home in the sidebar. → Home
Chat and threads
Send questions and requests to AI in a project's Chat tab. Conversations are split into threads so you can look back at them later.
Outputs
What AI creates in a project. Besides dashboards, you can have it create slides, spreadsheets, documents, and automations. Dashboards can be published and shared with your team. → Publish and share your app
Knowledge
Background information and context that AI refers to when analyzing data. Knowledge is set per project. → Knowledge
Automation
A way to run scheduled data loads, analyses, and notifications repeatedly, on a schedule or via the API. → What is Automation?
AI credits
Credits used for AI usage. They are consumed from a pool shared across the organization (team). → AI credits
Roles
Organization members have one of the roles Admin, Creator, or Viewer, which determine what they can do. → Members and roles
